
Hogs Fall to LSU in Game Two of Series
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 6/8 Arkansas Razorbacks fell to No. 10 LSU 13-2 on Friday night at Bogle Park to set the stage for a winner-take-all series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
LSU plated at least one run in five of seven innings at the plate, highlighted by a five-run fifth inning and a four-run seventh courtesy of a grand slam from second baseman McKenzie Redoutey.
Kailey Wyckoff led the Razorbacks offensively with a 2-3 night that featured a pair of singles and a walk. Atalyia Rijo reached base three times with a seventh-inning single and a pair of walks. Raigan Kramer singled in the fifth inning and Bri Ellis walked twice in the loss.
Robyn Herron took the loss for Arkansas to fall to 15-5. The left-handed junior allowed five earned runs on six hits and four walks while fanning five in 4.1 innings of work.
Freshman Jayden Heavener threw a complete game for LSU, striking out eight and allowing two runs on four hits and six walks to improve to 12-4.
The game started 1:28 after the originally slated start time of 6:02 p.m. due to a lightning delay.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the circle, Robyn Herron made her 20th start of the season for Arkansas, while LSU went with Freshman Jayden Heavener.
Danieca Coffey led off the game with a walk for LSU. She would advance to second on a wild pitch before coming around to score on a double off the right field wall from Maci Bergeron, which gave LSU the 1-0 lead. Herron registered two strikeouts in the frame.
Reagan Johnson was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Bri Ellis then drew a walk to increase her reached base streak to 23 games. A groundout by Ella McDowell moved both runners over a base. Arkansas then tied the game when Johnson raced home on a passed ball.
LSU responded with two runs in the top of the second courtesy of an RBI double from Coffey and a fielding error. Johnson and Atalyia Rijo were part of an impressive 8-6-2 putout in the inning that cut down Maddox McKee at the plate on a double hit by Sierra Daniel.
In the home half of the second, Johnson reached for the second time in the contest courtesy of a two-out walk.
Herron retired the Tigers in order in the third inning while picking up her fourth strikeout.
Kailey Wyckoff singled to second base with two outs in the bottom of the third inning for the Hogs’ first hit of the game.
Herron spun another scoreless frame in the fourth inning. Kennedy Miller ended the frame by throwing out McKee, who was attempting to steal second.
Atalyia Rijo led off the bottom of the fourth with a four-pitch walk before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt, but would be stranded as Heavener issued a groundout and strikeout to end the inning.
LSU loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fifth and would add five runs on four hits, three walks, and a throwing error to take an 8-1 lead. Beuerlein would enter in relief of Herron with the score 4-1. Three batters later, Cam Harrison would enter in relief of Beuerlein and take it the rest of the way.
Raigan Kramer singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and moved to second on Ellis’ second walk of the contest. A single by Wyckoff loaded the bases with one out. Arkansas would then cut the lead to 8-2 with a bases-loaded walk from Rijo, her second of the day.
LSU got a run back in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Avery Hodge.
Kennedy Miller was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the sixth, accounting for the Razorbacks’ only offensive action of the inning.
In the top of the seventh, A two-out grand slam by McKenzie Redoutey made it the final, 13-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Courtney Day reached on an error, and Rijo singled to right field, but Heavener would close out the complete game effort with her fifth scoreless inning of the night as LSU evened the series.

- Kailey Wyckoff registered her 13th multi-hit game of the season and her 40th multi-hit game of her career.

Arkansas had 3,689 fans in attendance, the seventh-largest crowd in program history and the largest crowd this season, beating the previous best of 3,554 against Kentucky on March 29.
- Bri Ellis extended her reached-base streak to a career-long 24 games with a pair of walks in the loss.

Arkansas (37-11, 13-10 SEC) will look to take the series against LSU (40-12, 12-11 SEC) tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
