Hogs Head to Athens for Match with Bulldogs

The Razorbacks hit the road for the second consecutive weekend and this time head east for a Sunday contest with the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.

It will be the second match of the week for both teams, as the Hogs took on the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Bulldogs played against the Kentucky Wildcats. Arkansas came away with a home sweep while Georgia fell in three in Athens. The Razorbacks are 15-7 overall and 6-6 in SEC play, and the Bulldogs are 17-6, 8-4 in the league.

Sunday’s match is set for 3 p.m. CT and for the third time in as many matches, the Arkansas volleyball program will be featured live on SEC Network.

Last Time Out
The Hogs returned to Barnhill Arena for the first time in two weeks on Wednesday and made quick work of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Arkansas won 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17 for the sweep, the team’s third in conference play. Junior Taylor Head had a team-high 15 kills and 14 digs for a double-double and hit .500. Graduate middle blocker Tatum Shipes led the Razorback defense with 10 total blocks, her third double-digit blocking performance at Arkansas and second in a row. She also contributed six kills on 11 swings with no errors for a .545 hitting percentage.

Scouting the Series: Georgia

  • Georgia faced off against Kentucky in midweek action and fell 0-3
  • The Bulldogs do have a ranked win in 2022, a sweep over then-No. 11 Florida on Oct. 19
  • Georgia is holding opponents to the second-lowest clip in the conference at .181, only behind Florida. The Dogs are also second to the Gators in blocks/set (2.62) and aces/set (1.80)
  • Sophie Fischer leads the conference in blocks/set at 1.56. Arkansas’ Tatum Shipes is No. 2 with 1.39
