Hogs Head to Lincoln for Matchup Against Nebraska
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team (4-2) hits the road for the second time this season to face Nebraska (5-2) at Dillon Tennis Center on Saturday, February 10. Six of the next eight matches for the Razorbacks are on the road before entering SEC play.
Last weekend, the Hogs dropped a tight battle to No. 25 Memphis, 4-3. The trio of Stefanos Savva, No. 107 Melvin Manuel, and Gerard Planelles Ripoll all secured straight-set wins during the match with Manuel earning his second ranked victory this season. Manuel, Božo Barun, and Benedikt Emesz currently lead the team with four singles wins each. The duo of Connor Smillie and Jake Sweeney continued their hot streak after a 6-4 victory on court three, marking their third consecutive doubles win as they both earned their fourth doubles win overall.
Nebraska has started the season 5-2 and is coming off a 7-0 loss to Baylor last Saturday. The Cornhuskers have picked up wins over North Dakota, Creighton (twice), Omaha, and Notre Dame. Nebraska is led by junior No. 113 Anton Shepp and senior Shunya Maruyama, who have both claimed six singles victories on the year. The singles lineup also features junior Calvin Mueller, who has posted a 4-3 record at the No. 1 position. Each of the Cornhuskers’ primary doubles teams have tallied three wins this season with Shepp and senior Nic Wiedenhorn heading the lineup on court one.
