Hogs Power Past Flames

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback swimming and diving team returned to the Arkansas Natatorium on Friday night and completed the day with a 177-122 win over the Liberty Flames.

Freshman Betsy Wizard broke the school and pool record in the 200-butterfly event with a time of 1:54.33.

“Wow, what a fun meet. We’ve really enjoyed having Liberty here for the football weekend, and we will work out with them again tomorrow morning. I thought our ladies finished a strong week of lifting and practices with a clear desire to race today,” stated head coach Neil Harper. “We really got on track with Andrea’s win in the 100 back (53.1), the 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 breast, and 200 fly. Alessia led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 100 breast with (59.7), Vanessa (1:00.1), Bella (1:01.0), and Bradi (1:01.9) was a very strong statement.

To have three ladies go under two minutes was great, Eleonora (1:59.9), Luciana (1:56.5), and then Betsy broke the pool record and the Arkansas School Record with a 1:54.33, the fastest time in the country so far! After that Bella’s win in the 100 Free (49.4), Kobie’s wins in the 200 Free (1:47.7) and 200 Back (1:56.6), Vanessa’s win in the 200 Breast (2:10.82),  and Andrea’s win in the 100 Fly (53.23) sealed the victory for the team.

We will continue to work and focus on our goals for the Texas A&M invite in less than 2 weeks!”
