
Hogs Set to Face No. 4 Texas, No. 28 Georgia at Home this Weekend
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 36 Arkansas men’s tennis team (14-7, 3-4) returns to Billingsley Tennis Center this weekend to host No. 4 Texas (15-3, 6-0) on Friday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m. and No. 28 Georgia (10-6, 4-2) on Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
The Razorbacks dropped their two SEC road matches this past weekend, falling to No. 25 South Carolina and No. 27 Florida. In the second match versus the Gators, the tandem of Brendan Boland and Marino Jakic earned their third victory this spring with a 6-3 win against Edengren/Weintraub on court three. The duo of No. 48 Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba teamed up to clinch the doubles point for the Hogs while securing their third ranked victory this season after a 7-6 (6) win over No. 19 Jefferson/Nirundorn at the top spot.
The No. 4 Longhorns are coming off a 4-0 victory against then-No. 31 Alabama to improve to 15-3 overall and 6-0 in SEC play this year. Texas is led by No. 3 Timo Legout and No. 19 Sebastian Gorzny, who are a combined 21-7 on the top two courts this spring. No. 46 Pierre-Yves Bailly, No. 53 Jonah Braswell and Oliver Ojakaar have all collected at least eight singles wins this dual season, with Bailly leading the team with 12 while Ojakaar has a perfect 8-0 record this year. In doubles, the pair of Lucas Brown and Legout are ranked No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings and have picked up six victories at the No. 1 position this spring.
The No. 28 Bulldogs are 10-6 overall and 4-2 in SEC contests this season after a 4-3 win over then-No. 16 Mississippi State last Saturday. Georgia is headlined by No. 25 Thomas Paulsell, No. 31 Miguel Perez Peña and No. 34 Ryan Colby, who have all competed on the top three courts this year. Georgia’s singles lineup also features Oscar Pinto Sansano and Niels Ratiu, who are a combined 20-9 this spring. The duos of No. 26 Freddy Blaydes/Ratiu and Perez Peña/Gabriele Vulpitta have each recorded a team-leading four doubles victories this season.
