Hogs Split Sunday Doubleheader in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team split its Sunday doubleheader, falling to Alabama 4-3 before defeating Alabama A&M 4-0. The Razorbacks now move to 11-4 (0-3 SEC) on the season.

The Hogs opened the day by securing the doubles point against Alabama. Ben Weintraub and Eric Padgham defeated Vit Kalina and Andrii Zimnokh, 7-2, while Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba earned a 6-3 victory over Jacob Olar and Matic Kriznik. Brendan Boland and Dmitry Kopilevich fell to Rohan Hazratwala and Brendan Loh, 2-6.

Arkansas picked up two singles wins in the match. Jakub Vrba defeated Andrii Zimnokh, 7-6, 6-2, and Gabriel Elicha Navas took down Jacob Olar, 6-1, 6-1. Lukas Palovic fell to Vit Kalina, 2-6, 2-6. Ben Weintraub dropped a three-set battle to Matic Kriznik, 6-2, 3-6, 1-6. Arsene Pougault fell to Carlos Gimenez Perez, 3-6, 3-6, and Dmitry Kopilevich was defeated by Yoshka Sborowsky, 5-7, 2-6.

Arkansas responded in the second match with a 4-0 victory over Alabama A&M. The Razorbacks claimed the doubles point behind wins from Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba, 6-3, and Brendan Boland and Dmitry Kopilevich, 6-1, before securing the match in singles play.
