Hogs off to blazing start on diamonds

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas is off to a blazing start on both the baseball and softball diamonds this season with both squads leading their respective league divisions while setting records for best Southeastern Conference starts in school history.

The Razorbacks are a combined 13-1 in SEC play with the baseball team boasting an unblemished 6-0 record and the softball team sporting a 7-1 mark. Arkansas’ combined league winning percentage of .929 ranks first in the SEC and is only one of three combined winning percentages of better than .700 percent. Florida ranks second with a .824 combined winning percentage while LSU ranks third with a winning percentage of .733.

Arkansas’ softball team, under the direction of head coach Jamie Pinkerton, sits atop the SEC’s Western Division standings after sweeping South Carolina and Mississippi State and taking two out of three games from Kentucky. Arkansas has taken advantage of its spectacular new home, Bogle Park, winning six of its seven games on the Razorbacks’ home field. Arkansas (18-10) returns to SEC play on Wednesday as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to take on the Tennessee Volunteers. After a doubleheader on Wednesday at Tennessee, Arkansas travels to Ole Miss for three games this weekend. Arkansas returns to Bogle Park on Saturday, April 4, as the Razorbacks host Auburn.
