Hogwired.com Players of the Week Announced

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jonathan Luigs, Freddie Fairchild and Freddy Burton have been selected the Hogwired.com players of the week for their efforts in Saturday’s game against No. 22 Auburn at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Luigs earned a 90-percent grade and racked up a team-high tying four knockdowns against the Tigers. He also recorded a perfect 100-percent grade in pass protection. The junior lineman played all 54 offensive snaps against Auburn.

The 2006 All-American has started every game of his UA career, including 21-consecutive starts at center. Luigs is a part of an offensive line that clears the way for the Southeastern Conference’ s top rushing attack at 293.2 yard per game.

Fairchild tallied 15 total tackles and one sack against Auburn. Nine of his tackles were solo stops, which tied for the team lead on the night. His sack of Brandon Cox came in the third quarter when Fairchild dropped the Auburn quarterback for a loss of eight yards.

The 15-tackle total is a season high for any Razorback this season. Teammate Matt Hewitt also had 15 tackles Saturday. Fairchild is tied for fourth on the team with 39 tackles this season.

Burton totaled four special-teams tackles, two solo and two assisted, in earning his second special teams player of the week recognition this year. On the season, the freshman linebacker has 14 total tackles, including a team-leading 13 stops during special-teams duty.

Following each game this season, Hogwired.com will recognize an offensive, defensive and special teams player of the week. Recipients are chosen by the UA football coaching staff.
