Hughes wins Mt. SAC long jump, Washington & Anthony runner-up
WALNUT, Calif. – Arkansas freshman Jurian Hughes, Jr. won the collegiate long jump title at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday while Razorback sprinters Connor Washington and Jordan Anthony finished runner-up in the 100m and 200m, respectively.
Hughes, who is from Minnesota, handled the cool conditions at Mt. SAC in delivering a winning leap of 25-1.25 (7.65). Camren Willis of Cal State Fullerton finished second with a mark of 25-0 (7.62). Razorback Sebastian Berntsen placed fifth with a mark of 24-0.75 (7.33).

“I came out here with a game plan, motive, and goal,” stated Hughes. “To come out here with a 25-plus jump. I fouled my first jump and I know it was an eight meter jump. After that my confidence was higher and higher.
“With the weather, I’m from Minnesota, so I’m used to the elements as well as 50 to 60 degree weather. I’m fine with that and came out the win today.”
