Ingram and Shean at the P&G

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Kristin Ingram and Kelli Shean represent the University of Arkansas women’s golf team at this year’s P&G Beauty Northwest Arkansas Championship at Pinnacle Country Club Tuesday.

The duo takes part in the qualifier hoping to make the cut to the weekend event.

“Our team is very lucky to have the opportunity to qualify for the P&G Beauty Northwest Arkansas Championship again this year,” said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. “We are one of the few or maybe the only college to have an LPGA event in our hometown. We run a qualifier every year for the chance to compete in this event. This experience is so valuable for them and to our team. Kelli and Kristin both have goals of playing on the LPGA and this is the perfect chance for them to measure up and see where they stand. They are both playing some great golf right now and are coming off of a very solid summer of competing. They are ready and I fully expect them to be teeing it up on Friday.”

Former Razorback Lucy Nunn, who graduated in May and is currently playing on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, also qualified and was granted an exemption. She joins former Razorback Stacy Lewis who will be competing as well.

In addition to Lewis, rookie Michelle Wie and 2008 RICOH Women’s British Open champion Jiyai Shin will compete in the event.

The pros hit the course Monday and Tuesday morning for practice rounds with the P&G Beauty Northwest Arkansas LGPA qualifier scheduled for a 1 p.m. tee time. The official Pro-Am takes place Wednesday and Thursday followed by the first round of the event Friday.

The Razorback women’s golf team officially opens the 2009-2010 season Sept. 19-20 at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
