
ITA Qualifying Draw Day Two
TULSA, Okla.-The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team split three doubles matches at the ITA All-American Championships Tuesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Junior Jose Salazar had a fantastic weekend competing in the pre-qualifying draw and advancing to the qualifying draw after winning three matches. Salazar defeated Eduarado Bringold (Eastern Washington) 6-0, 6-0. He then advanced to Round 128 on Saturday and defeated opponent Daffra Sanon (Clemson) 6-2, 7-5. Salazar competed in the Round 64 on Sunday and defeated Georgia Tech’s Cole Fiegel in a two set match, 6-4, 6-4. On Monday, he competed in the first round of the qualifying singles draw and won in a two set match to Buffalo’s Pablo Alvarez, 6-0, 6-1. Tuesday morning, Salazar fell to Max de Vroome (USC) in a tough three set match, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2.
The qualifying men’s doubles started Tuesday, Oct. 7. William Albanese and Johan den Toom fought hard, but fell to East Tennessee State’s Robert Herrera and Diago Nunez, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(5).
Jacob Herndon and Austin Robles fell to Texas A&M’s Jordi Acronada and Max Lunkin, 6-2, 6-4 in Round 64 of the qualifying men’s doubles.
