Jackson Earns Preseason Recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior Jessica Jackson opens the 2016-17 season as a member of the preseason All-Southeastern Conference First-Team the league office announced today.
Jackson is one of eight players selected by conference coaches to the first-team while the Razorbacks are predicted to finish 10th in the SEC standings. It is the third consecutive season Jackson is on the preseason list.
About Jackson
• The second fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career points
• She is the 19th player in program history to score at least 1,000 career points and grab at least 500 career rebounds
• Just the seventh player to score at least 1,000 career points, grab at least 500 rebounds and have at least 100 career blocks
• Scored in double figures in 26 games last year and 77 for her career
• Thirteen career double-doubles
• Scored 20+ points eight times as a junior and 21 times in her career
• Ranks 20th in program history with 564 career rebounds
• Ranks eighth in program history with 89 career blocked shots
The Razorbacks host Oklahoma Baptist in its lone exhibition contest of the 2016-17 season tonight at 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena. Tickets are available at the door.
Head coach Jimmy Dykes enters his third year at the helm and returns nine players from a team that went 12-18 overall and 7-9 in SEC play last season. The Razorbacks welcome in five newcomers who will all challenge for playing time in their first season.
The exhibition against Oklahoma Baptist marks the first of 18 home contests on the 2016-17 schedule. The Razorbacks also open the regular season at home, hosting Sam Houston State on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the annual Elementary Day game. Tickets are available by clicking HERE.
