Jackson, Ruy Earn SEC Weekly Honors

After helping lead Arkansas to its sixth SEC win of the season, senior libero Courtney Jackson and redshirt freshman outside hitter Olivia Ruy have earned weekly conference honors, the league announced on Monday.

Jackson was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, and Ruy has been tabbed Co-SEC Freshman of the Week for the first time in her career. The nods are the seventh and eighth for Arkansas in 2024 and the first time the Hogs have earned two in the same week since September of 2023.

In Arkansas’ sweep over South Carolina, Jackson recorded 24 digs, eight per set, for her fourth 20+ dig match of the season. It brought her career total to 1,675, which now places her in the top three in Arkansas program history for career digs. Jackson is atop the SEC in digs/set with 4.65, and just outside the national top 50.

Olivia Ruy had an outstanding outing against the Gamecocks with a team-high 17 kills, which is also a new career high. The rookie from Salt Lake tallied 14 kills into the second set before recording an error and had just three errors all day. Her hitting percentage of .452 is the second highest in a single match for any Arkansas freshman this season, only behind her own performance against Stephen F. Austin in September, where she hit .538 in an errorless victory over the Lady Jacks.

Arkansas looks to finish the regular season strong with five matches remaining, starting with visits to Ole Miss on Friday and LSU on Sunday. Action against the Rebels will start at 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+ and Sunday’s matinee in Baton Rouge is set for 2 p.m. on SEC Network.
