Jackson Tabbed SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

After anchoring the No. 17 Hogs in three more victories over the weekend, junior libero Courtney Jackson has been named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Jackson finished the team’s road trip to Bowling Green, Ky. with 60 digs over three matches, and had double-digit digs in each. Her 24 against WKU were a season high, and third highest in the SEC for a single match all season.

Courtney also recorded at least one ace in every match of the University Plaza Invitational and finished with five total on the weekend. She was named to the tournament MVP along with a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Jackson is currently fifth in the SEC in digs per set with 3.85, and second in total digs with 131. In her third season as Arkansas’ primary libero, she sits at 900 digs in her career so far, quickly approaching a spot in the program top 10, which requires 1,014.

The award is Jackson’s second SEC weekly honor of her career, as she was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 13, 2021. It is Arkansas’ first Defensive Player of the Week nod since Tatum Shipes on Nov. 21, 2022, and the Hogs’ second weekly award of the season.
