Jackson Leads Lady'Backs on Final Day

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Freshman Summer Jackson paced the University of Arkansas swimming and diving team with a lifetime best mark on the final day of the Indiana Invitational, Sunday, Nov. 20 in Bloomington, Ind.

Jackson finished third in the 100 freestyle while leading the Lady Razorbacks in points and anchoring the 400-free relay team of junior Kristen Thibodeaux, junior Mariann Fulop and sophomore Tifanie Silver to sixth-place showing.

Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James said happy with the Lady’Backs performance in the invitational.

“This was the best day of the three,” she said. “I am really pleased with the adjustments that our swimmers made in their stroke technique and race strategy, and that paid off.”

In the 200 breaststroke, freshman Jesika Heidloff posted a strong outing with a fifth-place finish. The Lady’Backs added another fifth-place showing when Fulop set a season best time in the 200 back.

In the first 1,650 freestyle race of the season, freshman Macey Webb registered a seventh-place mark for the Lady’Backs.

Goodman James said she was excited about the season and lifetime best that were recorded in Indiana along with the performances from a pair of freshmen.

“It was a great weekend all the way around,” she said. “There were some major breakthroughs this weekend by Mariann Fulop, Emily Fletcher and Elizabeth Engs.”
