Jada Bates Scores Career High 16 in Loss to No. 3 South Carolina
FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball (11-7, 0-3 SEC) suffered its fourth straight loss after a 93-58 defeat by No. 3 South Carolina (16-1, 3-0 SEC) on Thursday night inside Bud Walton Arena.
Sophomore Jada Bates finished with a career high 16 points on 6-9 shooting from the field to lead the Hogs.
First Quarter – 12-29
- South Carolina won the tip but traveled on its first possession.
- Jenna Lawrence hit a three-pointer to open the scoring.
- The Gamecocks grabbed their first lead at the 7:22 mark, 4-3.
- South Carolina responded with a 14-2 run after Lawrence’s three.

- Jada Bates’ layup opened the quarter but the Gamecocks responded with a three from Tessa Johnson.
- Arkansas fired off an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 10 with over 5 minutes left in the half.
- The Hogs were scoreless from the field and SC pushed its lead back to 17 before the end of the half.
- Arkansas finished 1 for its last 9 from the field.
- The Hogs outrebounded South Carolina 21-16 in the first half.
Third Quarter – 45-76
- The Gamecocks opened the half with back-to-back layups but Emily Robinson responded with her first three of the game.
- South Carolina led 66-41 at the media timeout.
- The Gamecocks outscored Arkansas 28-14 in the third.
Fourth Quarter – 58-93
- Bates passed her previous career high of nine points with her second banked-in three-pointer of the game.
- South Carolina went on a 1-12 stretch from the field to close out the game.
