
Jaxon Bair silver medalist in SEC Indoor heptathlon
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The second day of the SEC Indoor Championships included 12 team points from the heptathlon and high jump, bringing Arkansas’ total to 32 points through seven of 17 finals.
Host Texas A&M currently leads the field with 40.5 points followed by Ole Miss (39.5) and Oklahoma (37.5). Alabama is tied with the Razorbacks at 32 points.
In qualifying events on Friday, Arkansas advanced seven in four events, which included three Razorbacks in the mile, a pair in the 60m hurdles along with one each in the 60m and 800m.

Arkansas freshman Jaxon Bair finished second in the heptathlon with a career best score of 5,747 points, which enhances his No. 10 position on the UA all-time list. Another Razorback frosh, Cooper Williams, placed eighth in the heptathlon with 5,312 points. Gabriel Emmanuel did not finish the event.
Bair started the second day of the heptathlon with an 8.31in the 60m hurdles, then set a career best of 15-5 (4.70) in the pole vault, and completed the day with a 2:43.53 in the 1,000m. Texas A&M’s Blake Harris won the heptathlon with a score of 5,800 points.
In the high jump final, Joshua Blakely placed sixth with a career best clearance of 7-2.25 (2.19) while Scottie Vines tied for 15th in clearing 6-11 (2.11).
A trio of Razorbacks advanced to the mile final with Ben Shearer producing the leading time of 4:00.28. Davis Helmerich (4:02.51) and Reuben Reina (4:04.60) each earned auto qualification to the final.
Vashaun Vascianna led the 60m hurdle prelims with a career best of 7.52, which moves him to No. 2 on the UA all-time list behind Omar McLeod’s 7.45. Vascianna is now the No. 5 performer on the Jamaican all-time list.
TJ Caldwell, runner-up to Vascianna in 7.71, advanced to the final on time. Missing out on the final were Karamoko Sacko (7.78) and Brevin Sims (7.80).
Jordan Anthony posted a time of 6.60 in the 60m prelims to reach the final on time.
Rivaldo Marshall won his heat in the 800m to reach the final with a time of 1:48.95. A 1:49.73 by Tyrice Taylor just missed advancing on time as 1:49.69 was the final time qualifier.
Brandon Battle missed making the final in the 400m by 0.005 of a second with a 46.22 as none of the Razorbacks in the 400m prelims were able to advance. TJ Tomlyanovich posted a 46.51 while Jaden Smith ran 46.59.
