Jonas Aidoo Signs with Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE – Jonas Aidoo, who was tabbed first team All-SEC and voted to the SEC All-Defensive Team this past season, has signed with the Arkansas men’s basketball program, head coach John Calipari announced.
Aidoo (pronounced AY-doo) played 90 games in three seasons at Tennessee, seeing action in 19 games as a freshman, 35 as a sophomore and 36 last season. His scoring and rebound averages went from 2.11 points and 2.21 rebounds as a freshman, to 5.09 and 4.89 as a sophomore, to 11.42 and 7.31 as s junior, finishing with 629 points and 496 rebounds in the three seasons.

Averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game while making 19 appearances off the bench … Saw action in each of Tennessee’s games after Olivier Nkamhoua was sidelined due to injury on Feb. 5 … Scored four points in five minutes during the NCAA second-round contest against Michigan … Recorded three points, three blocks and five rebounds in the win over Arkansas … Tied his season-high with five points at Georgia … In a season-high 23 minutes at Missouri, had five points, five rebounds and three blocks … Scored four points and grabbed six rebounds at Arkansas … Played a large role in the win over Kentucky with five points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots … Scored his first collegiate points with a dunk during Tennessee’s win over Presbyterian, also recording an assist and rebound in five minutes of action … His collegiate debut was delayed after an illness sidelined him for multiple weeks of the preseason in October.
High School:
Graduated from Durham Voyager Academy in 2020 and spent a prep year at Liberty Heights Athletic Institute in Charlotte, where he was coached in 2020-21 by Michael Wright … Was rated as high as No. 21 nationally in the Class of 2021 by Rivals.com, and he was tabbed as the top prospect in the state of North Carolina by the 247sports.com composite … Averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks while shooting 68 percent in his lone season at Liberty Heights. … At the Phenom HoopState Championship in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in March of 2021, Aidoo posted a three-game scoring average of 17.3 points while leading Liberty Heights to the championship game … As a high school senior in 2019-20, he averaged 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks per game at Durham Voyager Academy. … A growth spurt prior to his sophomore year added five inches to his frame. … Played his AAU ball with Pro Skill Basketball’s “Team Curry” program, coached by Sim Frazier.
