Jordan Anthony enhances Bowerman watch list credentials

FAYETTEVILLE – After being named to the Bowerman watch list following his sweep of SEC 100m and 200m titles, Razorback sprinter Jordan Anthony enhanced his credentials with an all-conditions world-leading time of 9.75w seconds in the 100m during the NCAA West First Round this past weekend.

Anthony became the 13th Razorback man to be named to a Bowerman watch list in award history dating back to 2009 and is the first Arkansas sprinter named since 2016 Bowerman winner Jarrion Lawson.

In sweeping the SEC 100m and 200m titles, Anthony produced wind-legal times of 9.95 and 19.93 to break his UA record in the 100m and move to No. 2 on the UA all-time list in the 200m.

In addition to having the fastest 100m time in 2025, Anthony’s performance ranks among various all-time best lists under all-conditions. His 9.75w (2.1 wind) betters the previous Arkansas all-conditions best of 9.90w (2.7 wind) set by Lawson in 2015.

On the world all-time, all-conditions list, Anthony is equal No. 9 along with American sprinters Doc Patton (2013) and Trayvon Bromell (2022). On the American list he ranks equal No. 3 performer, and equal No. 5 performance, behind a 9.68w for Tyson Gay (2008) and 9.74 for Justin Gatlin (2015).

Among collegians, Anthony is equal No. 2 performer and performance, while holding the status of the top US collegian under all-conditions.

A wind-legal 9.82 by Christian Coleman (Tennessee) serves as the collegiate record from 2017. The all-conditions collegiate best of 9.69w (5.0) was set by Obadele Thompson (UTEP | Barbados) at altitude in 1996 while Andre De Grasse (USC | Canada) also had a 9.75w (2.7) in 2015.

With a 2.1 wind reading on his electric sprint in College Station, Anthony’s performance would be equivalent to 9.76 with a wind-legal 2.0 reading and 9.85 with a 0.0 wind reading.

For the 2025 season other wind-aided times include 9.79 (2.4) by professional Kenny Bednarek and 9.82 (6.0) by Texas prep Brayden Williams. The fastest wind-legal mark is a 9.86 shared by Bednarek and South Florida’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu of Ghana, who ranks equal No. 2 on the collegiate all-time list.

The next competition for Anthony and the No. 3 Razorbacks will be in the semifinals and finals of the NCAA Championships next Wednesday, June 11, and Friday, June 13, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Anthony will race in the 100m, 200m, and 4 x 100m relay.
