
Kiner, Ryan total 10 points, Anthony breaks UA 60m record
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Arkansas collected 10 points on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Championships as Razorbacks Henry Kiner and Uroy Ryan finished third and fifth in the long jump at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
The 10 points currently have Arkansas in a seven-way tie for third place with five finals scored. Oklahoma currently leads with 17 points while Virginia has 15. Tied with the Razorbacks in third place are BYU, Duke, New Mexico, Texas, Texas A&M, and Wyoming.
Qualifying events featured a school record for Jordan Anthony as he generated a time of 6.47 in the 60m to better his record of 6.54 set in winning the SEC Indoor recently.
Through the first day of the heptathlon, Jack Turner is currently in fourth place with 3,289 points. Mississippi State’s Peyton Bair is the leader after four events with a 3,357 tally. In second place with 3,340 points is BYU’s Ben Barton while Miami’s Edgar Campre is third with 3,292 points.
Kiner, who held the facility record with a mark of 26-4.5 (8.04) from his NCAA Division II victory in 2023, produced a leap of 25-11.5 (7.91) to claim a bronze medal. Ryan reached a distance of 25-9.5 (7.86) for fifth place.
The top five finishers in the long jump were all from SEC schools. Kelsey Daniel of Texas won the event with a mark of 26-9.25 (8.16) over Oklahoma’s Nikaoli Williams, runner-up with a 26-1.5 (7.96). USC finished sixth and eighth in the event, picking up four team points.
The other final on day one involving the Razorbacks was the 5,000m. Patrick Kiprop (13:35.62) and Yaseen Abdalla (13:44.03) placed 14th and 15th. Oklahoma State’s Brian Musau won the race in 13:11.34 over New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel (13:11.78).
Turner started the heptathlon with a 7.01 in the 60m for 879 points and was eighth overall. A long jump of 24-2.25 (7.37) followed for 903 points as Turner had the second best effort.
A toss of 44-8 (13.61) in the shot put earned Turner 704 points as he was seventh in the event. Finishing the first day with the high jump, Turner cleared 6-6.75 (2.00) for 803 points to place fifth among the field. He attempted 6-9 (2.06) twice before calling it a day.
USC’s JC Stevenson won the 60m prelim heat in an indoor world-leading time of 6.46 for 2025 and ranks equal No. 4 performer on the collegiate all-time list. Anthony’s time is second fastest in the world for 2025 and ranks equal No. 6 on the all-time collegiate list.
Vashaun Vascianna posted a time of 7.59 in the 60m hurdles, placing third in his prelim heat and seventh overall to reach the final. TJ Tomlyanovich advanced in the 400m with the eighth best time of 46.40 while teammates Jaden Smith (46.50) and Brandon Battle (46.62) finished 11th and 13th.
Tyrice Taylor placed 10th overall in the 800m prelims with a 1:47.64. Reuben Reina posted a mile time of 4:01.92 to finish 13th overall in the mile prelims.
Saturday will include Scottie Vines in the high jump, Apalos Edwards in the triple jump, Abdalla in the 3,000m, the Razorback 4 x 400m relay, and the completion of the heptathlon.
