Kjerstad Named AFL Fall Star

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Razorback standout and current Baltimore Orioles top prospect Heston Kjerstad is a 2022 Fall Star.

Kjerstad, selected by Baltimore with the second overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft, will participate in both the Arizona Fall League Home Run Derby and Fall Stars Game, representing the American League. The Amarillo, Texas, native is slashing .353/.385/.624 with an AFL-leading five home runs and 17 runs batted in through 19 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

As a Razorback, Kjerstad slashed .343/.421/.590 with 37 homers and 129 RBI over 150 career games from 2018-20. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2018 before becoming the second-highest draft pick in school history in 2020.

The inaugural AFL Home Run Derby is set for 8:35 p.m. CT Saturday, Nov. 5, at Sloan Park, home of the Mesa Solar Sox, in Mesa, Ariz. The Fall Stars Game will take place at 4 p.m. CT Sunday, Nov. 6 at Sloan Park and will be broadcast live on MLB Network.
