Jacobus Named Google Cloud Division I Academic All-America Team Member of the Year

AUSTIN, Texas – Lexi Jacobus was named as the 2018-19 Google Cloud Division I Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Recently graduating from Arkansas for a second time, Jacobus maintained a 4.00 GPA during her undergrad and grad work in biochemistry while racking up four individual NCAA Championships in the pole vault while helping the Razorbacks capture three NCAA Tea titles during her time on the Hill.

“Everyone always sees an athlete’s success on the track, court, or field, but without awards and recognitions like this, people wouldn’t see how hard we work in the classroom as well,” said Jacobus, a native of Cabot, Arkansas. “Over the last four years, I have put countless hours into studying and my classwork always striving to learn as much as I could while being given the amazing opportunity to earn a degree at the University of Arkansas debt-free.”

“Being selected for this award is so humbling,” Jacobus continued. “And I feel blessed to be recognized for the hard work I put in away from the track as well.”

Jacobus is a four-time NCAA champion in the pole vault and earned seven First Team All-American honors during her career.  She was a five-time Southeastern Conference champion, All-SEC honoree seven times, was a two-time recipient of the NCAA South Central Regional Field Athlete of the Year, as well as sweeping the SEC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year honors during the 2016 season.

Jacobus, a three-time NCAA Elite 90 Award winner, was the 2019 Track & Field News Indoor Athlete of the Year. She owns the Arkansas indoor pole vault record and ranks second in program history in the pole vault outdoors.

“We are always so proud of Lexi, no matter what the challenge may be, she always attacked it with high energy and tenacity,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter.
