Long Ties for 4th at Watersound Invitational

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Arkansas played the final three holes at 6-under par and finished seventh with a 54-hole score of 867 at the Watersound Invitational, played at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course.

No. 17Georgia Tech won the team title with a 15-under 849, followed by Alabama (854), #15 Note Dame (858), Virginia Tech (862), #26 Clemson (864) and #4 North Carolina (865).

Graduate senior Luke Long tied for the low round of the day, a 2-under-par 70, and moved up six spots to finish tied for fourth with a 4-under total of 212 (72-70-70). The Fayetteville native had one blemish on his scorecard with a bogey the third hole before finishing the round with 12 pars and three birdies. Long has posted back-to-back top 6 finishes and has three top 10’s this season.

Segundo Oliva Pinto also made a charge on the final day. He birdied his last three holes to post a 1-under-par 71. He moved up seven spots to tie for 16th with a 54-hole score of 215 (73-71-71). It marked Oliva Pinto’s fifth top 20 finish in five stroke-play events this season.

Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira also improved his standing on the final day, going from 31st into a tie for 28th. The junior had a birdie on his 53rd hole of the event to post a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday. Overall, he was 2-over for the event with a score of 218 (74-71-73).

Julian Perico and Juan Camilo Vesga tied for 48th, each turning in a score of 224 for the event. Perico’s birdie on the final hole helped the Hogs finish one spot higher than the previous day. Enrique Dimayuga rounded out the Razorback contingent by tying for 62nd (229).
