Lukas Palovic Tabbed to All-SEC Second Team
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Lukas Palovic was named to the All-SEC Second Team as announced by the league Thursday. Palovic becomes the second Razorback to receive All-SEC honors under head coach Jay Udwadia, marking the first time the Hogs have placed a student-athlete on an All-SEC team in consecutive seasons since 2018-19.
During his fall campaign, Palovic claimed the title at the inaugural RockStar Passes Collegiate Tennis Challenge after winning four straight matches, including a semifinal victory over then-No. 100 Derek Pham (Oklahoma State) en route to securing the championship. Palovic then followed with a stellar showing at the PTT 25K Fayetteville, grabbing five wins while earning a victory in the finals of the 2nd place playoffs.
The Prešov, Slovakia native picked up 16 wins on courts one through three and posted a 10-4 record at the No. 2 position for Arkansas, collecting eight victories in his last ten matches overall. Palovic achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 48 earlier this spring and is currently ranked No. 55 heading into the NCAA Tournament.
The sophomore has defeated a team-high five ranked opponents and ended SEC play with a 7-3 singles record. Palovic upset two top-20 opponents in No. 16 Mitsui (Tennessee) and No. 19 Gorzny (Texas) while only dropping two matches versus ranked opponents this year. Palovic’s win over Mitsui marked the highest-ranked singles victory by a Razorback since April 2018.
First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, along with Player, Newcomer, Freshman and Coach of the Year were chosen by the league’s 15 coaches.
The Hogs await their NCAA Tournament draw, which will be revealed on Monday, April 28 at 4:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
