Lysa Selected To NCAA Individual Championships
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee has selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships, it was announced Wednesday.
For the second-straight year, Arkansas senior Yuliya Lysa has earned a bid to the singles championships. In addition, the duo of Lysa and junior Shannon Hudson have been selected as one of six alternates for the doubles championships.
The announcement comes one day after the No. 32 Razorbacks (16-13, 5-8) received an at-large bid to the team championship. Arkansas is set to face No. 29 Tulsa (21-4) in the first round of the Oklahoma State Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on May 13.
Lysa, who is ranked No. 22 nationally, compiled a 13-6 dual-match singles record on the season en route to earning All-SEC First Team honors. She was especially dominant during Southeastern Conference play, posting a team-best 9-4 mark that included 4 victories over top-25 opponents.
The singles and doubles competition will be held May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 19-24. The University of Tulsa will serve as host.
