Malta Center Galea Signs with Hogs

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball head coach Mike Neighbors has signed Malta center Danika Galea, as announced Monday. Galea is a top contributor on the Malta national team and is heading to the states with four years of eligibility. The center is the seventh signee ahead of the 2024-25 season, fifth this offseason.

Galea stands at 6-3 and is a member of the Malta Women’s National Team. She played on the senior and U22 National Teams. Galea won MVP at last summer’s FIBA U18 Division C with Malta, winning the gold medal for the country for the first since 2007 in Albania. She averaged an impressive 29 points and 19 rebounds per game on 65.1 percent shooting from the field (41-for-63). In the title game vs. Albania, Galea posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for Malta.

This summer, Galea will take part in her third stint with the Malta Senior National Team. Galea played with Elite Basket Roma this past year.

Galea becomes the fifth international player on the 2024-25 roster.
