Maria Jose Sanchez Earns SEC Weekly Honors in Back-to-Back Weeks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Maria Jose Sanchez has earned SEC weekly honors for the second week in a row, marking the third time she has won SEC honors this season. She won both 1-meter and 3-meter diving at University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday. The Razorbacks routed the Trojans by a score of 176-111. Maria Jose posted a score of 315.83 on 1-meter and 345.98 on 3-meter. Her 3-meter score is a season best, eclipsing her previous best of 345.60 which Sanchez set just a week prior. In addition to Sanchez’s success on the springboards, the Razorbacks swept the podium in both events with Malea Martinez (310.13) and Isa Perreira (283.58) following Sanchez in the 1-meter and Malea Martinez (327.75) and Lauren French (314.93) following her in the 3-meter.

This is the third week Sanchez has taken home a weekly award from the SEC, and the second time in a row she’s been recognized by the SEC for her fantastic performance. Sanchez earned SEC honors the week of October 1 following a stellar showing against Drury in the first meet of her Razorback career. She secured her second SEC weekly honors for shattering the school record for platform diving on November 2nd during a double-dual meet with TCU and SMU in Dallas, Texas.

Th Razorbacks will be in action on 11/21 as they travel to the Iowa Invite in Iowa City, IA.
