Mayfield Named National Swimmer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior Anna Mayfield earned CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Mayfield adds the national award to her resume after earning Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Week following her record-setting performance at the Rice Invitational. Mayfield went four for four in her individual events at the Rice Invitational with pool records in the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle and 100 and 200 backstrokes.

She was responsible for five facility records broken and nine first-place finishes at the Rice Invitational. Mayfield aided Arkansas to three relay facility records at the two-day, three-session meet against Rice, Incarnate Word and Houston.

Mayfield placed first in the 100 backstroke (55.37) and shattered the facility record. The same day, she won the 200 backstroke (1:58.28) and broke another facility record. Mayfield also won the 500 freestyle (4:51.36) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.71) contributing 80 individual points. In total, she contributed 130 points to Arkansas overall total and broke two individual facility records and three relay facility records.

The Razorbacks are 3-0 on the season and travel to Tennessee for SEC action Nov. 6, at 2 p.m.
