Men?s track set for NCAA Regional meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 6 Arkansas Razorback men’s track and field will compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships at the University of Louisville. Events will be contested Friday-Saturday, May 29-30, at Cardinal Park.

Also competing in Louisville will be Alabama, No. 10 Auburn, Illinois, Indiana, No. 20 Kentucky, No. 8 LSU, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, No. 23 Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin and Tennessee.

Arkansas will be represented by 15 student-athletes in nine individual events plus the 4×100-meter relay. Tarik Batchelor (long and triple jumps), Marek Niit (200 meters and 4×100-meter relay), J-Mee Samuels (100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100-meter relay) and Mychael Stewart (long jump, 4×100-meter relay) will be competing in multiple events this weekend.

While Louisville hosts the Mideast Championships, North Carolina A&T State is hosting the East Championships, Oklahoma the Midwest Championships and Oregon the West Championships.

A top five finish in any individual event and a top three finish in a relay automatically qualifies for the NCAA Championships, in Fayetteville next month. To be considered for an at-large bid, an individual athlete must finish sixth through 12th and relays must finish fourth through eighth.
