Men's DMR Team Steals The Show And Punches Ticket To Nationals
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The reigning SEC Indoor Track Champions and No. 3 Arkansas men’s track and field team closed the regular season at the Arkansas Open and Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invite on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The Razorback distance medley relay team of Austen Dalquist, Jamarco Stephen, Patrick Rono and Kemoy Campbell used a 3:57 anchor leg from Campbell en route to a 9:28.37 final time to record the fastest time of the weekend. Arkansas had previously run 9:32 coming into Saturday, on the NCAA bubble, but left no doubt by running the fourth fastest time of 2015 in South Bend. The DMR team’s time is also the second-best time in program history, falling two-hundredths of a second shy of the school record (9:28.35; 2009).
In the mile at the Alex Wilson Invite, Alex George took third in a personal-best 4:07.46, while Cale Wallace finished in 11th place with his time of 4:12.10.
At the Arkansas Open, Brad Culp took second place in the 60 meter hurdles in a personal-best 8.45. Marqueze Washington took first place in to 400 meter dash in 46.49, while Ryan Thomas (1:50.12), Andrew Pisechko (1:52.33), Noah Findlay (1:52.96; PR) and Tomas Squella (1:53.45) finished 1-2-3-4 in the 800 meter.
Devin Randall finished second in the weight throw (59-2.25) and took first in the shot put (56-2.75). Randall’s mark of 59-2.25 in the weight throw is a new personal-best and is the No. 2 mark in program history.
Andrew Irwin walked away with the pole vault title after his mark of 18-8.25 and Ken LeGassey took first in the high jump (6-11).
The Razorbacks will now head to the 2015 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships as the defending champions. The SEC Championships, hosted by Kentucky, are Feb. 27-28.
