
Men’s Tennis Close Regular Season at Home Against No. 48 Alabama, No. 8 Tennessee
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team welcomes the Crimson Tide and the Volunteers to Billingsley Tennis Center for the final home matches of the season. The Razorbacks will face Alabama on Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m. CT and close out the weekend against No. 8 Tennessee on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. CT.
Last time out, the Razorbacks dropped two tough matches to No. 17 Auburn and No. 12 Mississippi State. Arkansas only scored one point on the weekend with freshman Benedikt Emesz defeating Mississippi State’s Michal Novansky in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
No. 48 Alabama took a huge 4-3 decision over No. 17 Auburn last weekend in its last home match. The Crimson Tide dropped the doubles point and came back with four singles wins to clinch the victory. The win marks the team’s seond top-20 victory this season, also defeating then-No. 16 Florida last month. On court one for the Tide is No. 75 Filip Planinsek who holds a 13-10 record this spring. In doubles, Planinsek partners up with Enzo Aguiard on court one where the duo has lost its last four matches.
The Volunteers have won six-straight matches with their last coming in a 6-1 victory over No. 5 South Carolina. Tennessee will face No. 25 Ole Miss on Thursday before they make the trip to Fayetteville for the final match of the regular season. The Volunteers stand strong in the rankings with No. 2 Johannus Monday and No. 23 Monday and Pat Harper. Monday has remained dominant in singles, boasting a 13-2 record at No. 1 spot for a overall 31-5 dual record this season.
