Men's Tennis Falls to Georgia Tech in ITA Kickoff Weekend Opener

AUSTIN, Texas – The Arkansas men’s tennis team (4-2) dropped its second match of the season after a 4-1 loss to Georgia Tech (4-1) Saturday afternoon at Texas Tennis Center as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Hogs move to the consolation bracket and will face Rice tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets obtained the early advantage with a victory on court one as No. 19 Arora/Clement defeated Božo Barun/Marino Jakic, 6-3. Georgia Tech claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 win from No. 44 Bonetto/Carlini over Connor Smillie/Jakub Vrba at the No. 2 position. Benni Emesz and Lukas Palovic’s match on court three went unfinished with the Razorback duo trailing 4-5.

Georgia Tech carried their momentum into singles play, taking the first set on five courts. In the top spot, No. 90 Bonetto secured a straight-set victory against Barun, while Jakic fell 4-6, 4-6 in his match to Brancatelli on court two. Palovic earned the only point of the match for Arkansas after a 6-2, 6-4 win over Clement at the No. 3 position. The Yellow Jackets clinched the match on court six as Biagiotti bested Arthur Bellegy in straight sets.

No. 85 Vrba and Benni Emesz’s matches went unfinished as both Razorbacks forced third sets after dropping the opening set at the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively.
