Men’s Tennis Host Omaha in Final Home Non-Conference Matchup

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 31 Arkansas men’s tennis team will wrap up its home non-conference schedule as they host the Omaha Mavericks (8-3) on Sunday. The Razorbacks (11-1) have won their last six matches, five being at home inside Billingsley Tennis Center.

The matchup was originally meant to be a doubleheader, but the Razorbacks and Mavericks will face off only once on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The two teams last met last year when Arkansas swept Omaha in a doubleheader at home, 7-0 in both matches.

The Razorbacks wrap up their six-match homestand, looking for a win before going into conference play. Arkansas will take the courts for the first time in over a week after defeating Tulsa, 4-1, in a midweek matchup. In the win, the Razorbacks continued their dominance in doubles, taking the point in their last six matches. Freshman Gerard Planelles Ripoll has been a key part of the Razorbacks’ success, he is currently on a five-match singles win streak and holds a 10-1 record this spring.

The Mavericks are 8-3 this dual season and are coming off a 4-3 win over Georgetown University on Friday. In the latest ITA rankings, Omaha comes in at No. 75 for its first national ranking in program history. In doubles, the duo of Ryoma Mishiro and Ethan Gaubert are 3-0 at the top position and 8-2 overall. Leading the team in singles is Ryoma Mishiro who is on a seven-match win streak.

Admission is free and live stats and video are available on the men’s tennis schedule page.
