Men's Tennis Lands Transfer Arthur Bellegy
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Head coach Jay Udwadia has officially announced the signing of New Mexico transfer Arthur Bellegy for the 2024-25 Razorback men’s tennis season.
The French native joins the Hogs as a fifth-year senior after spending one season each at New Mexico, Westcliff (CA), Irvine Valley College (CA), and Cerritos College (CA). Bellegy was a mainstay in the singles lineup and played a significant role for the Lobos last season, primarily competing on courts two and three while accumulating a record of 12-7 during the dual season and finishing 21-9 overall. Bellegy earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors on Feb. 14 and helped New Mexico earn a final ITA ranking of No. 72.
As a junior at Westcliff (CA), Bellegy amassed a 16-2 record in singles play and concluded the season at No. 8 in the NAIA singles rankings. Bellegy competed at the top position in both singles and doubles for the Warriors while leading the team to a 17-4 record and a NAIA national quarterfinal appearance, which marked the best season in school history.
In his lone season at Irvine Valley College (CA), Bellegy put together one of the best individual years in program history. Bellegy played at the top spot in singles and doubles and received Player of the Year honors in the Orange Empire Conference after leading the Lasers to an OEC title and an appearance in the SoCal regional semifinal. Bellegy also captured the CCCAA singles and doubles championships, earning him ITA All-American honors along with being named the ITA Region I Sophomore Player of the Year.
During his freshman year at Cerritos College (CA), Bellegy recorded six singles wins and five doubles victories while playing at the No. 1 position before the spring season ended early due to COVID-19. The entire 2020-21 season was also canceled.
