
Men’s Tennis On the Road for Two Conference Matchups
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 60 Arkansas men’s tennis team is back on the road for two conference matchups this weekend. The Razorbacks (12-10, 0-9) will head to Auburn on Friday to face the No. 17 Tigers then travel to No. 14 Mississippi State for an SEC matchup on Sunday, April 9.
Last time out, the Razorbacks dropped two tough matches to No. 45 LSU and No. 7 Georgia. Arkansas only scored one point on the weekend with freshman Benedikt Emesz defeating LSU’s Julien Penzlin in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. The doubles duo of Adrien Burdet and Melvin Manuel appeared back in the latest ITA Rankings at No. 70.
The No. 17 Auburn recorded two shutouts last week, posting 4-0 wins over both Vanderbilt and Alabama A&M. Freshman Billy Blaydes leads the Tigers in wins, holding a 10-3 record at court six. Auburn has two ranked singles players in No. 59 Tyler Stice and No. 109 Alejandro Moreno. Stice plays at the top court for the Tigers, posting a 9-9 record this dual season.
The Bulldogs split a pair of conference matches last week, falling to No. 9 Tennessee and then defeated No. 52 Alabama, 4-3. In the win over the Crimson Tide, the Bulldogs rallied back from a 2-0 deficit with four singles wins to seal the match victory. Ewen Lumsden leads the team in wins with a 16-4 dual record and is the highest-ranked Bulldog at No. 93.
