Men’s Tennis topples Tennessee on Rocky Top

No. 39 Arkansas Men’s Tennis won the team’s second straight Southeastern Conference match on Friday night at No. 59 in another 4-3 thriller.

The Razorbacks (13-6, 2-4) took the doubles point for a quick 1-0 lead thanks to wins from duos Eric Padgham and Ben Weintraub on court one and Brendan Boland and Dmitry Kopilevich on court three. Padgham and Weintraub defeated Dragos Cazacu and Jose Garcia, 6-3, with Boland and Kopilevich beating Woodson McMillin and Boruch Skierkier, 6-3. No. 28 Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba dropped their match to Shion Itsusaki and Ethan Muza, 6-4.

Weintraub pushed the Hogs’ lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Cazacu on court three. The Volunteers (7-11, 0-7) put a point on the board with a win from Shion Itsusaki 6-1, 6-4 win on court six over Boland. No. 24 Vrba earned a ranked win over No. 78 Garcia 7-6 (10-8), 6-4 to make it 3-1 Arkansas. The Vols, however, rallied to win courts four and five to level the match. Jan Kobierski defeated Gabriel Elicha Navas 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 on court four before Skierkier took down Kopilevich on court five, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). With the match hanging in the balance on court two, Lukas Palovic delivered once again with a 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 victory over No. 88 Alejandro Moreno to send Arkansas home a winner.

The Razorbacks travel to No. 12 Georgia on Sunday for matches against the Bulldogs at noon and a neutral site match against The Citadel set for 4:30 p.m.
