Missouri State Next Up for Hogs in Nine-Game Homestand

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas continues its season-long nine-game homestand at Baum Stadium Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. with the Missouri State Bears coming to town. The game can be heard on the Arkansas Baseball Radio Network with Rick Schaeffer calling the action. Tuesday’s contest can also be seen live over the internet inside the RazorZone at Hogwired.com. The Razorbacks enter the game with a 25-10 overall record and a 8-4 mark in SEC play that leads the SEC West. Arkansas is averaging 8.4 runs per game and 10.5 hits per contest. The pitching staff boasts a 4.28 ERA and an impressive nine strikeouts per nine innings. The Bears are 19-13 on the season with 4-5 record in Missouri Valley Conference action, including a sweep at the hands of an Illinois State team that played the Hogs tough in Fayetteville earlier this season. MSU also has wins over Kansas and Minnesota. The Bears are hitting .285 as a team and scoring 6.8 runs per game while the pitching staff boasts a 4.08 ERA and a .253 opponent batting average. Arkansas leads the all-time series between the two clubs 41-20, but Missouri swept both games from the Hogs a year ago. The Razorbacks hold a decided advantage in the series in Fayetteville with a 29-8 edge all time. The Razorbacks are undecided on a starting pitcher but will use a variety of pitchers throughout the game to get their staff more innings. Tim Clubb will start for the Bears and make his first appearance against the Hogs. The freshman right-hander is 4-0 on the season with a 4.50 ERA in 40 innings of work. He has allowed 47 hits, issued 11 walks and struck out 17 this season. Arkansas welcomes the SEC East leading Florida Gators to Baum Stadium over the weekend. The series begins at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
