
Moore NCAA Runner-Up in Heptathlon, All-American Performances For Arkansas
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas turned in a top-15 finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon scoring 16-pts. at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Gabe Moore recorded the highest finish for Arkansas on the weekend when he turned in a runner-up finish in the men’s heptathlon. Moore who entered day two as the leader through four events rounded out the competition with marks of 8.02 in the 60-meter hurdles, 4.56m (14-11.50) in the pole vault and 2:47.06 in the 1,000-meters finishing with a lifetime-best total of 5,975-pts. Moore posted a PR in three of the seven events over the two-day competition.
Teammate Derek Jacobus earned Second-Team All-American honors in the heptathlon finishing ninth with a lifetime-best total of 5,666-pts. Jacobus recorded marks of 8.46 in the 60-meter hurdles, 4.66m (15-3.50) in the pole vault and 2:44.22 in the 1,000-meters. Jacobus set a PR in two of the seven events.
Laquan Nairn competed in the triple jump, making the finals of the event before finishing ninth-overall and earning Second-Team All-American honors with a best mark of 15.80m (51-10).
The final event of the evening featured a Razorback squad competing in the 4×400-meter relay. The quartet of Travean Caldwell (47.64), Jalen Brown (46.17), Hunter Woodhall (46.92), and John Winn (46.11) ran 3:06.82 for fourth-place and First-Team All-American honors.
Arkansas finished 13th-overall as a team with a total score of 16-pts.
This concludes the 2019 NCAA Indoor season, Arkansas will make its outdoor debut in two weeks at the Arkansas Spring Invitational Mar. 22-23 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville.
