FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Taking a break from competition at home the No. 1 Arkansas women’s track and field team will compete at the Charlie Thomas Invitational this weekend in College Station, Texas. The two day competition hosted by No. 20 Texas A&M will be held on Feb. 5-6 at the McFerrin Athletic Center Indoor Track and Football Facility.

USTFCCCA WEEK TWO RANKINGS

Arkansas remains the No. 1 team in country following an extremely successful team showing at last weekend’s Razorback Invitational. The Razorbacks dominance in the NCAA is evident in their steadily increasing point total which has risen by almost 30 points since the preseason rankings debuted in early January.

ALL EYES ON…

Through three weekends of competition Oklahoma transfer Payton Stumbaugh has made her presence felt within the SEC this season in multiple events. Stumbaugh is the current conference leader in the 60-meter hurdles and ranked nationally in both the hurdles and pentathlon.

A naturally gifted sprinter Stumbaugh will look to improve her times in the open sprint events this weekend competing in the 60 and 200-meter dashes. She currently holds the second best time this season at 200 meters for the Razorbacks with 23.79.

NCAA 400-meter dash leader Taylor Ellis-Watson will drop a lap this weekend and join Stumbaugh on the track in the 200-meter dash. Ellis-Watson has a season best in the event of 23.36 and career best of 23.08.

Representing the Razorbacks at 400 meters this week will be All-American junior Daina Harper. An integral leg on past Arkansas 4×400-meter relay teams Harper’s open competition speed is taking form as the season progresses. The Woodlands, Texas native ran an NCAA top 20 performance in the event at the Razorback Invitational with 53.71.

Looking to improve in the field multi-talented sophomore Taliyah Brooks will place emphasis on the long jump this weekend. Recognized for her talents in the 60-meter hurdles and pentathlon Brooks also holds the third best performance in the long jump in Razorback history off her 6.35m/20-10 jump last weekend. Look for her to break into the NCAA top 10 in her third event this season with a strong performance at the Charlie Wilson Invitational.

One of two returning All-American vaulters from last year’s roster Ariel Voskamp will look to get an improved clearance in the pole vault this weekend and join teammates Lexi and Tori Weeks inside the national top 10 performance list.

Arkansas will open competition on day two of the invitational with the 60-meter dash prelims at 12:30 p.m. Fans can watch the meet on the SEC Network + starting at 1:55 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 6. Live results are also available at flashresults.com.
