FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 1 University of Arkansas women’s track and field team has collected 33 total qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA West Preliminary. Overall, the Razorbacks will be represented by 24 student-athletes in 12 events and two relays. The prelude to the national meet will be contested May 26-28 at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas.

The top 48 declared athletes were selected into individual events per region with the top 24 relay teams per region also qualifying. The NCAA East Preliminary will be held the same weekend at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The top 12 qualifiers in each event from the two preliminary meets will advance to compete June 8-11 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward in Eugene, Oregon.

The Razorbacks’ preliminary qualifiers are led by the trio of Dominique Scott-Efurd (5K and 10K), Payton Stumbaugh (100 hurdles) and Lexi Weeks (pole vault), who own the top-ranked mark in their respective events. Along with Scott-Efurd, Taliyah Brooks and Kelsey Herman will compete in two events apiece as the combined events duo is entered in the 100 hurdles and long jump. Weeks leads a quartet of Arkansas entries in the pole vault while the team also has two top-10 qualifiers in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 400, headlined by seniors Jessica Kamilos and Taylor Ellis-Watson, respectively.

Along with their preliminary duties in individual events, Brooks, Leigha Brown, Alex Gochenour and Stumbaugh have already secured spots at the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon. The list of national entries in the two-day, seven-event competition was also announced Thursday. Brooks, Gochenour and Stumbaugh are all inside the NCAA top 10 while Brown moved up to No. 16 with a lifetime best 5,647 points from the SEC Outdoor Championship.
