No. 24 Arkansas On the Road at Tennessee and Georgia

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –  The No. 24 University of Arkansas women’s tennis team is closing out the season with four-straight road matches against Southeastern Conference opponents starting this weekend at No. 22 Tennessee on Friday, April 2 and at No. 3 Georgia on Sunday, April 4.

Arkansas (10-5, 4-5) is looking to break a five-match losing streak. In the home finale last weekend, the Razorbacks fell in two tight decisions to No. 17 Auburn, 4-2, and Alabama, 4-3.

Freshman Indianna Spink continues to climb the national polls, coming in at No. 33 in singles this week. Spink has won her last two matches and is 15-6 overall. She continually battles at the No. 1 position for the Razorbacks and has been honored as SEC Freshman of the Week three times this season.

No. 22 Tennessee hosts Arkansas after splitting its matches last weekend. The Vols secured a notable 4-3 win against No. 16 Vanderbilt before dropping a 4-2 decision on the road at No. 23 Kentucky. Tennessee enters the weekend 10-6 overall and 4-4 in SEC play, the Vols have maintained a clean slate at home with a 7-0 record when playing in Knoxville.

Tennessee sophomore Carly Briggs is ranked No. 45 in the nation with a record of 13-12 in singles matches, she is joined in the top 100 by teammates, No. 68 Eleonora Molinaro and No. 96 Rebeka Mertena. Molinaro is currently on a four-game losing streak, but all four have come to top-ranked opponents.

In doubles play, the Volunteers look to Tenika McGiffin and Carly Briggs in the No. 1 position. The duo has built a 7-2 record in dual meets this season and are currently 3-1 in SEC play. Tennessee has not won a doubles point in three-straight matches, dropping to 2-4 in matches in which they dropped the doubles point.

No. 3 Georgia is on an 11-game winning streak and has not dropped an SEC match this season. They are coming off two SEC wins over No. 21 Kentucky, 4-0, and then No. 16 Vanderbilt, 4-2.

The Bulldogs are led by No. 1 Katarina Jokic, who has not lost a match this dual season and clinched the match for Georgia over Vanderbilt last weekend. In doubles, the No. 3 duo of Ariana Arseneault and Katarina Jokic are on a three-game winning streak, all over nationally-ranked opponents. The Bulldogs will face the Missouri Tigers on Friday before their matchup with the Razorbacks.
