No. 34 Razorbacks Host No. 21 Alabama to Conclude Homestand

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 34 Arkansas men’s tennis team (13-5, 2-2) concludes its four-match homestand at Billingsley Tennis Center this weekend with an SEC matchup against No. 21 Alabama (10-4, 2-3) on Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m.

The Hogs opened last weekend with a 4-1 upset win over No. 12 Texas A&M which marked their fourth victory in the last six meetings with the Aggies. The Razorbacks then split a doubleheader against No. 18 Tennessee and Southern Miss, falling to the Vols 4-2 before rebounding with a 4-0 victory over the Golden Eagles.

No. 82 Lukas Palovic joined the ITA singles rankings for the first time after a win over No. 16 Mitsui (Tennessee). No. 124 Jakub Vrba earned his second ranked victory this season, defeating No. 95 Moreno (Tennessee) in straight sets. Palovic and Vrba are the only two Hogs with double-digit singles wins this spring, with Palovic leading the team at 11.

The No. 21 Crimson Tide are 10-4 overall and 2-3 in SEC play after a 4-3 loss to No. 51 Ole Miss Thursday evening. No. 17 Filip Planinsek headlines the Alabama lineup at the top spot and leads the team in dual singles victories with a perfect 11-0 record. The Crimson Tide also feature No. 75 Roan Jones and No. 91 Matias Ponce De Leon, who have posted a combined 16-5 record this dual season across courts one through three. Matic Kriznik and Planinsek have collected three doubles wins together this spring and are ranked No. 42 in the ITA doubles rankings.
