No. 4 Soccer Falls to Mississippi State, 2-1, at SEC Tournament
PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 4 Arkansas soccer, the top-seeded team at the SEC Tournament, was eliminated after a 2-1 loss to 8-seed Mississippi State in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Florida.
How it Happened
Arkansas opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Kennedy Ball backheeled a pass from Vailana Tu’ua to Bella Field near the penalty spot. Field turned and fired across the ground for her fifth goal of the season.
The Bulldogs tied it up just 32 seconds later through an unassisted Rebeka Vega-Peleka screamer from outside the 18-yard box.
SEC Midfielder of the Year Ally Perry gave Mississippi State the lead in the 59th minute with another unassisted goal from distance.
The Bulldogs won the shot battle, 26-16. Arkansas goalkeeper Evelyn Vitali made 5 saves.
