No. 47 Men's Tennis Heads to Dallas for Matchup Against SMU
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 47 Arkansas men’s tennis team (10-3) travels to Dallas, Texas, for the first of three road matches this week to face SMU (8-5) at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Wednesday, February 28.
The Razorbacks are back in action after a 4-0 sweep over Lamar on Saturday afternoon. The Hogs claimed the early lead after a doubles sweep with victories from Karlo Kajin/Stefanos Savva and Jakob Mosvold/Gerard Planelles Ripoll. Connor Smillie was recently named SEC Freshman of the Week and leads Arkansas with seven doubles wins followed by Jared Horwood, Melvin Manuel, and Jake Sweeney with six.
The trio of Kajin, Planelles Ripoll, and Savva all posted strong performances against the Cardinals, securing straight-set victories to help clinch the match for the Razorbacks. Manuel and Savva are tied for the team lead with seven singles wins this spring.
SMU has started the season 8-5 and is coming off a 4-2 loss to then-No. 17 Baylor. The Mustangs are led in singles wins by freshman Trevor Svajda and junior Make Silagy, who both hold an 8-3 record this year. Svajda heads the lineup and comes off a ranked victory against No. 35 Paroulek while senior No. 97 Adam Neff has primarily played at the No. 2 position. The SMU lineup also features senior Liam Krall, who has seven victories this spring and recently picked up a ranked win over No. 75 Badenhorst.
The Mustangs have one ranked doubles pair in No. 46 Neff/Huntley Allen, posting a 4-0 record at the No. 1 position. Neff leads the team with eight doubles victories, including a 4-2 record alongside Svajda on court one.
