No. 48 Arkansas Opens Three-Match Homestand Against Missouri
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 48 Arkansas women’s tennis team (7-7, 0-4) returns to Billingsley Tennis Center to open its three-match homestand against Missouri (4-12, 0-4) on Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m.
The Razorbacks dropped their two SEC road matches this past weekend, falling to No. 15 Alabama and No. 12 Auburn. In the first match against Alabama, No. 48 Carolina Gomez Alonso took down No. 32 Bencheikh for her sixth straight win and third consecutive victory over a ranked opponent. However, both streaks came to an end after Gomez Alonso dropped her match against No. 14 Ansari (Auburn). Kacie Harvey picked up her fourth win this spring after defeating Alabama’s Parkhomenko in three sets.
The Tigers are coming off an 0-2 weekend on the road, dropping their matches to No. 12 Auburn and No. 15 Alabama. Senior Mae Canete leads Missouri with eight singles wins at the No. 1 position and is currently on a five-match winning streak. In doubles play, sisters Mae and Christine Canete are ranked No. 33 and hold an 8-4 record on court one.
