No. 5 Razorbacks compete in Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Arkansas competes in the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida this Friday and Saturday at the James Pressley Stadium and Percy Beard Track.

Women’s teams competing include No.18 Auburn, Cincinnati, No. 11 Clemson, No. 17 Florida, Florida A&M, No. 3 Georgia, Harvard, Howard, No. 24 Illinois, Indiana, No.14 Iowa, No. 19 Kentucky, No. 20 LSU, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Penn, Purdue, Tennessee, No. 8 Texas, and UCF.

A live stream of the meet will be available on SEC Network + with links to Friday’s (3:55 pm CT) and Saturday’s (8:25 a.m. CT) broadcast. Live results are available through Primetime Timing.

The meet has combination of Collegiate, Invite, and Olympic Development sections in various events. In addition to the Razorback squad competing there are also a few Arkansas alums among the field.

In the 400m Invite a crew of eight Razorbacks are spread out among five sections. Rosey Effoing and Kaylyn Brown are the first section along with a pair of Georgia sprinters in Aaliyah Butler and Dejanea Oakley.

Other Arkansas sprinters in the 400m Invite include Aaliyah Pyatt, Joanne Reid, Sanaria Butler, Kayla Davis, Ashanti Denton, and Amirah Sharpe.

The 800m Invite features four Razorbacks split into two sections. Analisse Batista and Sanu Jallow-Lockhart race in section 1 while Anna Podojil and Ainsley Erzen compete in section two.

Anya Jackson and Shawnti Jackson are part of the 200m Invite field while Anya also races in the 100m Collegiate race. The 100m hurdle Invite prelims includes three Razorbacks –

Shania Myers, Simone Ballard, and Saira Prince racing in three separate heats.

Rachel Glenn and Prince are part of the 400m hurdle Invite and Glenn is also entered in the high jump Invite with Sydney Billington. The pole vault Invite includes Hannah Estes and Rachel Homoly.

Competing in Collegiate division events are Arianna Sharpe (400m), Sorcha Shiu (1,500m), and Funminiyi Olajide (long jump).

Arkansas alum Taliyah Brooks, who is preparing for an upcoming heptathlon, is entered in a pair of Olympic Development events – 200m and 100m hurdles – as well as the long jump Invite.

Joining Brooks in the 200m Invite are Nickisha Pryce and Paris Peoples, while Destiny Huven is entered in the 100m hurdles. The long jump Invite also includes Nia Robinson.
