No. 6 Hogs Thrash Tigers, 6-1, on Senior Day
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas soccer (12-2-0, 7-0-0 SEC) defeated Missouri (5-9-0, 1-6-0 SEC), 6-1, for its 12th straight victory, extending the program’s longest win streak. Senior Parker Goins broke the all-time points record after scoring a goal, earning her 105th point.
How it Happened
Senior Kayla McKeon kicked off the scoring barrage in the 23rd minute. A ball that was headed away from a Missouri defender connected with McKeon in the top of the penalty box, where she fired it off her left foot into the bottom of the net for the squad’s first goal of the evening.
McKeon doubled the lead for the Hogs in the 44th minute after defender Haley VanFossen launched the ball from midfield where sophomore Ava Tankersley headed it for McKeon to pick it up once again at the top of the 18-yard box, where she sent it in the near side of the goal.
Arkansas added to its lead with just two seconds left in the first half with a set-piece goal from junior Anna Podojil. A corner from Goins on the near side pulled the Missouri keeper out to punch it away, allowing space for Podojil to put the Razorbacks up 3-0 at the half.
Sophomore Kiley Dulaney scored the second goal of her career in the 51st minute, quadrupling the Hogs’ lead. After some back-and-forth in the midfield, Tankersley broke free where she took it down and found Dulaney outside of the penalty box. Dulaney beat the Missouri defender at the penalty spot and converted in the lower left corner of the net.
The Tigers got on the board in the 64th minute after midfielder Cassidy Nurnberger found the net.
The Razorbacks continued the onslaught in the 82nd minute, this time from senior defender Cora Duininck. After a couple of crosses in the box, Dulaney knocked it to Duininck who headed through the Tiger defense for her second goal of the season.
Goins finished off the night just one minute later. Podojil took the ball down outside the 18-yard box where she connected with freshman Sophia Aragon. Aragon played it back to Goins where she fired it outside the box and past the Missouri keeper for her eighth goal of the season.
With the score, Goins moved into first all-time in points 105.
The Razorbacks finished the match outshooting the Tiger 28-4. The Hogs have outscored their last twelve opponents 44-6.
