
No. 8 Hogs Drop Top 10 Battle to No. 3 Duke
FAYETTEVILLE – No. 8 Arkansas soccer fell to 1-2-1 on the season after a 2-0 loss to No. 3 Duke (3-0-0) on Thursday night at Razorback Field.
The Hogs had the first chance of the match at the 1:12 mark, but Blue Devil goalkeeper Caroline Dysart smothered sophomore Kyndal Ewertz’s attempt from inside the 6-yard box.
Both of Duke’s goals were scored in the first 10 minutes and the final 10 minutes of the match. Preseason All-ACC selection and junior Mia Minestrella scored the opener in the 9th minute, assisted by senior Devyn Lynch. Lynch scored the insurance goal with just over seven minutes to play.
Arkansas battled for the equalizer, with most chances coming from set pieces. The Hogs took 11 free kicks and 11 corner kicks.
The visitors dominated in shots, 27-12, and forced Arkansas goalkeeper Keegan Smith to make eight saves.
The Razorbacks concluded their four-game homestand with a 1-2-1 record, including results against No. 2 Notre Dame and Georgia Southern.
