No. 9 Oklahoma Sweeps Razorbacks Friday Night

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 36 Arkansas men’s tennis returned to Billingsley Tennis Center on Friday evening and fell 4-0 to No. 9 Oklahoma.

The Razorbacks (16-12) dropped the doubles point as the Sooners (17-5) secured wins on all three courts. No. 31 Luis Alvarez and Bruno Nhavene defeated No. 31 Ben Weintraub and Eric Padgham 6-3 on court one, followed by a 6-3 win on court two over No. 59 Jakub Vrba and Connor Smillie. Oklahoma completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory on court three against Dmitry Kopilevich and Brendan Boland.

In singles, Oklahoma carried momentum, picking up three straight-set victories to clinch the match. No. 94 Johan Rodriguez defeated Ben Weintraub 6-1, 6-3 on court four, while Asahi Harazaki topped Brendan Boland 6-0, 6-3 on court six. Jakub Vrba, ranked No. 19 nationally, was forced to retire in his match against No. 33 Luis Alvarez on court one.

Several matches went unfinished, including Lukas Palovic, Gabriel Elicha Navas, and Arsène Pougault, as the Sooners secured the 4-0 decision.

Arkansas will return to Billingsley Tennis Center on Sunday to host Florida.
