No. 9 Razorbacks close out home schedule with Arkansas Twilight
FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 9 Razorbacks host the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, May 9, at John McDonnell Field. It’s the last home meet of the season prior to the SEC Championships hosted by Kentucky next week.
Senior athlete recognition will be held at 4:25 p.m. prior to running events starting at 5 p.m. A live stream of the meet is available through SEC Network + at this link. Live results are available through flashresults.com at this link.
“We’re recognizing our seniors, that’s something that we do regularly with this meet, the last home meet of the season,” said Arkansas men’s head coach Chris Bucknam. “We’re able to recognize our guys who have competed for us and done a great job.
“Plus, it’s nice to have this one final tune-up meet on this unbelievable track we have. So, we’re appreciative of this great facility and our officials. It’s graduation weekend and we don’t have to travel.”
Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. and the following parking lots will be available starting at 11:30 a.m. The lots include 207, 209, 210, 211, and 212.
A field of 21 teams will be competing in the Arkansas Twilight, which include Ave Maria (Fla.), Crowder (Mo.), Harding, John Brown (Ark.), Kansas City, Little Rock, NorthWest Arkansas CC, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Pittsburg State, Souteastern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas, Southwest Baptist, Truman, UA Rich Mountain, UT Arlington, UT Tyler.
One of the featured races is the 1,500m where Razorbacks Reuben Reina, Donovan Bitticks, and Elias Schreml will race in the fourth section with a crew of runners from Oklahoma State.
“The 1,500m is going to be a really good race with Oklahoma State and a pair of really good Arkansas guys who really want to run fast,” noted Bucknam. “This race will be one of the last events of the evening.
“Even with conference meets coming up next week, some of the guys racing in the 1,500m are trying to get the world standard for the World Championships and so they want to run a certain time. We have Reuben Reina in that race along with Donovan Bitticks, one of our freshmen who is starting to come along.”
Kevin Bello will race in the 100m and 200m where professional Matthew Boling is entered. They race in the third of three sections in the 100m along with Razorbacks Connor Washington and Tevijon Williams.
TJ Tomlyanovich and Jonah Vigil will compete in the second section of the 400m.
A trio of Arkansas hurdlers in the 110m hurdles include TJ Caldwell, Karamoko Sacko, and Brevin Sims along with alums Tai Brown, Elijah Morris, and Shaka Bogan. Racing in the 400m hurdles are Joel Burris and Grant Williams.
